Regular public dialogue events

In co-operation with its partners, the Harold Wolpe Memorial Trust hosts regular open dialogue events in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, and various sites in the Eastern Cape. The primary aim of these events is to bring together policy-makers, academics, civil society and other interested individuals to debate and discuss critical socio-political and economic issues.

These events draw on a diverse range of speakers, including key academics, public figures and activists. Time is made available for questions and discussion with audience members.

Events are publicised via email databases and web sites maintained in each centre, as well as through networks, and in some cases, through radio and the press. To receive notice of future events in your region, add your name to the mailing list.

Over the past couple of years, attendance at these events has increased considerably, with attendance ranging from 100 to 250. It seems that the events are gaining in reputation and popularity. They provide a safe space for rigorous debate and discussion on a range of topics linked to important socio-economic and political issues.
